I am grateful for many healings in Christian Science...

I am grateful for many healings in Christian Science—surely I have been delivered from dreadful bondage; but rising above all else in thought is the knowledge that in Christian Science one may find a solution for every problem humanity ever faced. My work as a supervisor of music brought me in touch with all classes of children, and the distressing conditions were many times so extreme that I suffered intensely, because there seemed no way of permanently relieving their woes. I was sure that deliverance would come through God, but how? In searching for light I did a great deal of wandering through the various "isms," and finally it was out of curiosity that I read "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. The sense of peace which came to me as I read the "little book" the first time will always be remembered, for as I made that first journey through its pages, the weight of many an unanswered question was lifted. I saw plainly how to give, directly and indirectly, "a cup of cold water" to all classes and conditions of men.

Previous to becoming interested in Christian Science, I was a sufferer from a peculiar throat trouble. I cannot remember of ever having two physicians give the affection the same name—ofttimes it was a question as to even relieving my distress. Each year the periods of being without the natural use of the organs grew alarmingly close together; for weeks at a time I was deprived of the ability to sing. This, with various other physical conditions left by many illnesses, worried me, but not until a form of poisoning developed did I seek the truth earnestly. It was than a choice between life and death, and immediate help was necessary.

During the last illness of my mother, I was unable to do much for her, because of my own susceptibility to the disease from which she suffered, and the physician insisted that I remain out of the room, else there would be serious results. That which he feared came upon me, and my case seemed perfectly hopeless. So changed was I that friends passed me without recognizing me. I sought a Christian Science practitioner, and in a few weeks went to a farm where I would not have to come in contact with any one outside of the family. Inside of two months the trouble disappeared, largely through my reading of Science and Health. The following winter the throat trouble was healed and my sense of smell restored.
