Mrs. Eddy most decisively reiterates again and again the great fact that the Bible contains the whole truth, and she proves it by so illuminating and bringing it to the comprehension of her followers that, as a result thereof, they are able to prove it by repeating the mighty works recorded therein. Is the man who is suffering from sin, disease, and sorrow, interested in a future salvation, or in a present surcease? Were the promises of Jesus all for the future? Did he mean nothing when he said: "Behold, the kingdom of God is within you;" "He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these;" and "Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest"?

When the light of Christian Science came to Mrs. Eddy, she knew that the promises of the Master were for present fulfilment, and so for forty years Christian Science has pursued its stately course, lifted from the gutters the downfallen and sinful, raised the invalid from the bed of pain and suffering, restored the atheist, the infidel, and the agnostic to a present knowledge of God as our Father as the God of Life Truth, and Love, and brought to a sinning suffering world the hope and the realization of a present-day redemption and salvation. Christian Science says, even as the Master said, "Be not afraid, only believe;" and to those who obey comes the ever-present and convincing assurance that God is here; that He is not a God "afar off," but a God "at hand," and that here and now we may realize the fulness of God's love and mercy, which the Master came to portray.

There are many statements made as to what Christian Science teaches, and these statements are as generally incorrect as the attitude of those who make them is critical and prejudiced. The doctrines of Christian Science are not secret. Its fundamentals and rules are fully enumerated and expounded in the text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, and every one may for himself read and learn therein just what Christian Science teaches. Its doctrines may at first sight seem to some strange and perhaps startling; but this should not be surprising, for such is the history and experience of every new revelation of the truth, whether it be in the realm of philosophy, religion, or physics. It was also true of the Master's teachings, and because the world was not then ready to receive them, he paid the penalty on the cross; and it was several centuries before they were accepted and had attained to vitality and strength.
