Having derived more benefit from the Sentinel than I...
Having derived more benefit from the Sentinel than I can tell, I desire to give my mite in return. About eight years ago I was healed instantaneously of bladder trouble. Nine years previous to this I suffered periodically, and was bedfast at times. I was treated by our home physician, also by one from Butler, Pa., but was never benefited.
It was then that I decided to try Christian Science. I sent for a practitioner, and went to my room with the intention of going to bed, but was so miserable that I could not. When the practitioner arrived, she found me suffering greatly. After a few moments of silent prayer, she requested me to rise, to sit in a rocker, and join her in reading the Lesson-Sermon. She said she would treat me, and with her assistance I arose. I can truthfully say that I was healed in that one treatment, for I have never had the slightest symptom of the disease since. A year ago I was healed of an attack of cold in one treatment. Being the only believer in Science in our home, I was denied treatment. I, however, refused medical aid, and after I had suffered intensely for fifteen hours, my sister came to see me, and I told her to telephone for help. She did so, and in about twenty minutes I was comfortable; in another half hour I was up and dressed, helped to get the dinner, and also partook of it. I could tell of numerous proofs of the efficacy of Science for myself and children, and while there is yet much to overcome, I know this Scripture is true, "Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass." To those who are seemingly prejudiced, as I was, I would say, "Get the 'little book;' read and understand it, for 'where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.' "
I am very grateful to God for the healing received, but best of all is the understanding that " 'good is my God, and my God is good. Love is my God, and my God is Love' " (Miscellaneous Writings, p. 206). I am also grateful for such a noble Leader. Truth indeed makes men free, and brings to our consciousness the "peace of God, which passeth all understanding."
