I have long felt it my duty to tell of the benefits I have received in Christian Science. About three years ago I was attracted to it by the beautiful lives of neighbors who were Scientists. I was a church-member, and, until I observed the reasonable way in which they were enabled to interpret Biblical statements which had always been a great mystery to me, and which were not solved for me in the old faith, thought I was leading the best kind of a Christian life. When I think of the wonderful change in my life since I have taken up this study for myself, I am reminded that actions speak louder than words, as I was brought into it in a quiet way, and have had my spiritual understanding greatly enlarged.
I have had many beautiful healings in my family, two of which I will mention. Nearly three years ago my little son's lung became so badly affected as to cause great pain and fever. I called a Christian Science practitioner, and in less than four hours he was perfectly normal and at his play. I thought afterward that had I not seen it I could hardly have believed such a quick change possible. Now I have learned that this was as it should be and entirely possible. He was also afflicted with a bad eruption on the head, which the physicians had told me was hereditary and would continue for years. This was, however, destroyed entirely, to my great joy.
Words seem but an empty expression of my great thankfulness to God, and to all who have helped me in this understanding, which is truly "a wellspring of life unto him that hath it."—Carrie L. Banta, Waukegan, Ill.
