THE LECTURES
Clarence C. Eaton delivered a lecture on Christian Science yesterday afternoon [May 23] at the Temple Theater, under the auspices of First Church of Christ, Scientist. He was introduced by Storey Buck of this city, who said in part,—
All people in all ages of the world have had their religions. These religions have been of two classes,—those which have assured their adherents of comfort and happiness after the death of the mortal body, and those which have given assurances of happiness in the present life. Many religions have promised both. Of the latter seem to be the teachings of Christian Scientists. As the public generally understands, Christian Science lays special stress on the comfort which comes in the present life to those who understand and follow its teachings. If it be true that this religion teaches this, it is of great importance to the world. We can well afford to give attention to any teachings which promise to lessen or abolish physical suffering.—Lewiston Tribune.
