The fact that many thousands of people are demonstrating...
Chattanooga (Tenn.) News
The fact that many thousands of people are demonstrating Christian Science in the healing of all manner of diseases and sins sets at naught one's reckless assertion that "the philosophy and juggling of words which sets forth this science cannot be understood." It was charged that Christ Jesus cast out devils through Beelzebub, the prince of devils, and our critic's statement that "Christian Science is the devil's last weapon" is, practically, a paraphrased reiteration of this same accusation. Both calculations were based upon misunderstanding. Christ Jesus came not to "call the righteous, but sinners to repentance." Christian Science has come to provide refuge for earth's weary and heavy-laden throng, regardless of whether they be found within or without the churches.
Paul said: "The carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God." This teaching awakens one to the fact that the physical senses do not establish the truth about God and His creation. The Christ-Science does dethrone material sense, supplanting it with spiritual illumination. "Old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." The change, however, comes about after the manner of Biblical admonition: "Be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind."
