Tiffin (O.) Tribune
Instead of using suggestion, or the control of one human mind over another, the teaching and practice of Christian Science require that directly the opposite course be followed, and that by reliance upon divine power the sufferer be made free from every sort of evil suggestion and influence through which he has been made sick. This Science is based upon the infinite goodness and power of God; the understanding that He is both able and willing to heal and to save. This understanding gives a solid foundation for that faith which is sufficient for the removal of the mountains of sickness and sin, and Christian Scientists have been able to prove their faith by their works so positively and with such uniformity that there is no longer any room for doubt as to the power and availability of Christian Science for the healing of both functional and organic diseases. Many cases of organic disease which were diagnosed and pronounced incurable by reputable physicians, have been permanently cured through Christian Science.
The healing of the sick through spiritual power had an important place in the establishment and growth of the Christian religion nineteen hundred years ago. Jesus not only healed the sick, but he commanded his disciples to do so, and he said, "He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also." He further said, "Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil." It is clear that the healing of the sick by the Master was according to law. That same law is in the world today, to be known and practised by his followers, and the command "to preach the gospel and to heal the sick" is a positive command.
