It is five years since we first became interested in Christian Science, and in that time we have had many and varied proofs of the healing power of Truth. An experience I had with a burn proved to me that if we turn at once to God, our demonstrations are instantaneous. I had placed a vessel containing a quart of water over a gasjet in my dressing-room, and while waiting for the water to heat I took up Science and Health, our text-book by Mrs. Eddy, and read for some time. My attention was attracted by the sound of the boiling water, and I reached up to remove the same by taking hold of the handle, which turned, spilling the contents over my exposed shoulder and breast. Just for an instant the pain seemed unbearable, but I immediately declared the truth, and before I had half finished the scientific statement of being (Science and Health, p. 468), all pain had ceased and I was filled with such a sense of love and gratitude as words fail to express. The skin was very red and shriveled, but two hours later all evidence of the experience had disappeared.
I am most grateful to our beloved Leader, and to all those who have helped me to gain an understanding of the truth revealed through Christian Science.
