It is with heartfelt thankfulness to our Father-Mother God...
It is with heartfelt thankfulness to our Father-Mother God that I write to acknowledge something of what my wife and I owe to the teachings of Christian Science as given to the world by Mrs. Eddy. A little over two years ago we were in great distress of mind, owing to the thought that our means of livelihood had been taken from us, through no fault of our own. Just at this juncture, when we stood so much in need of wise counsel, we were first drawn to Christian Science by what was then apparently a chance meeting on shipboard with a lady who was string Science and Health, and who presently got into conversation with us and gave us our first apprehension of this great teaching.
We did not at once pursue the study, but after about three months we took it up in good earnest, and were forcibly impressed with the beauty of the subject. We were both church-members, and had been for many years, but in this Science we found what we had consciously lacked, viz., a clear understanding of the divine nature of the love of God. We perceived at once that God is Love, and we were able to understand more perfectly man's relationship to Him. Since we first began to study this grand verity we have not wavered, but have applied for, and I am thankful to say have been received into, membership with The Mother Church, and also of First Church of Christ, Scientist, Melbourne.
Time and space would fail me to tell of the many complete overcomings of physical troubles for ourselves and our children through this wondrous truth. Suffice it to say, that whereas we were formerly good patrons of physicians, surgeons, and chemists, since we have come to know the truth, the truth has indeed made us free from the laws that previously bound us to a belief of sin, sickness, and death. From the first we have not had to resort to material remedies, and although some attacks of sickness have come our way, these have been quickly vanquished by the power of divine Love, so that we now see the falsity of trusting to drugs for healing. Our way has been opened up in temporatl matters, and altogether we know that we are kept by a Father's care. We could not if we would, and we would not if we could, go back to the old line of thought.
