The Scripture says, "Rejoice evermore. ... In every thing give thanks." Our Leader beautifully expresses this thought in one of the by-laws of The Mother Church: "Gratitude and love should abide in every heart each day of all the years" (Manual, p. 69). I consider it, therefore, not, only a blessed privilege but a sacred duty publicly to thank God for all He has done for me, in the hope that some one who is suffering and sorrowing may be healed and comforted through the practical application of Christian Science, as I was. It is now four and a half years since I was healed. From birth I had been ill, in a greater or less degree, and it was only by the most tender care and the best medical aid that I was reared; electricity and osteopathy were faithfully tried, and my parents spared nothing that money could afford.

Kind friends recommended Christian Science, and a practitioner was called at a time when I was lying unconscious, a condition which had occurred every six months for nine years. I shall never forget the joy, when I awoke the next morning, to behold the Christian Scientist, who had come with her message of Love. From that hour life was so different! I felt at once the healing touch of the Christ. At last the something, I knew not what, but for which I had prayed, had come and would heal me. After receiving three weeks' treatment I was lovingly told to study the Bible, and Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, for therein was contained the healing truth.

During that time I was healed of a most severe female trouble of nine years' standing, which specialists had pronounced incurable. This condition was so severe that I have often lain in bed ten weeks at a time, and for months had been unable to walk any distance, and always with much inconvenience. A head and spinal trouble, which caused constant pain, was also healed. At certain periods I would be in such a mental condition from the intense suffering, that I did not recognize the members of my own family. For thirteen years I had worn glasses, and often had to stay in a dark room, but so thoroughly was the work done that my eyes were completely healed before the practitioner knew I wore glasses. This was also the case with a bowel trouble. From childhood I had been subject to a throat trouble, and averaged from four to six attacks in a year. Since my healing in Christian Science my throat has been normal.
