The physical healing effected through Christian Science is in sense secondary to the main import of this teaching, because Christian Science seeks primarily the moral regeneration of those who adopt its plan of human betterment. Through the study of Christian Science it is found that the basis of all diseases is in the conscious or unconscious indulgence in sin, and the patient and loving effort to get rid of the sin and its effects involves the cure of the patient. In fact, this is so clearly shown to be the operation of the cure that one is almost tempted to employ the chemical term "by-product" in defining the result of this metaphysical operation. It is significant that the public interest aroused by the splendid achievements of Christian Science reformation and cure has led to the establishment in recent years of a number of systems which would claim the "fame tho' not the name" of Mrs. Eddy's unselfish labor. This cannot be, and those who are lax in giving credit to whom credit is due violate the basis law of honesty, without which nothing can be accomplished in the line of right.
