Danbury (Conn.) News

Christian Science is essentially a practical religion—a religion of common sense. Christian Scientists dwell on the spiritual instead of the material, because man progresses by thinking of what he wants to be, instead of keeping his thoughts on what he is striving to outgrow. They do not claim to have gone farther than did Jesus in their demonstration over food and clothing, but rather thank God that they are approximating a more normal condition, where they can eat and digest the food that is set before them. They are bringing into their experience better conditions right here and now, instead of waiting until after death.

Every system of healing should stand on its own merits, and thousands of families give willing testimony to better conditions under Christian Science practice than they formerly experienced with material methods. It would be worse than folly to urge the blind who have received their sight, to close again their eyes to the light, or try to convince one who was once dying and has been restored to life, that God did not heal through the "effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man,"—through the ministration of divine Love. "Why should it be thought a thing incredible with you, that God should raise the dead," or heal the sick?
