I am very grateful for the many blessings which have come to me through the understanding of Christian Science. The words of our beloved Leader, "Step by step will those who trust Him find that 'God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble'" (Science and Health, p. 444), have appealed to me with greater force, through a recent experience, than ever before. I awoke one morning very early, in great pain with an acute attack of kidney trouble. I treated myself the best I could for a while, but as I seemed to grow worse steadily, I realized that I must have help as soon as possible. I asked my wife to send for a Christian Science practitioner, which she did at once. The practitioner came, and remained with me all day and until midnight, when the sense of illness left me and I was perfectly healed. In less than twenty-four hours I was free from this serious and painful disease. In the old way I should have been under morphine for three or four days, and there would have been two weeks or more of convalescence, dieting, etc.
For this wonderful proof of the power of divine Mind to heal all our diseases, I am thankful to God, and to our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, who has made it possible for us to understand the truth that makes free.
