The Advocate of Peace in giving thirty reasons why our navy should not be increased says: "Because our three foreign wars since 1781, which lasted only six years, cost in life, all told, in battle, nothing comparable with our reckless slaughter by accidents every year in time of peace.
OCCASIONALLY
reference is publicly made to Christian Science as a religion in which there is no provision made for charitable work, nor any organized effort put forth to care for the needy and distressed.
SYMPATHY
is a quality whose character, in the ordinary sense of the word, has been considerably changed through Christian Science, but this change enables one to sympathize in a more practical manner than was ever for a moment contemplated before scientific Christianity explicated its fuller meaning.
My
Master's work would not be done Should my hand slack, or fail my feet Love's calls to heed, His errands run; On should I halt with message sweet To hungering hearts and souls downcast, Their wounds to stanch, their ills to mend, Nor drop Love's blessings sure and fast And be to them who need a friend.
Christian Scientists readily agree that there is only one infinite Mind, God; still they insist that finite man can grasp or understand this infinite Mind, God, only in a small measure, in his present state of consciousness, and in consequence is not in complete alinement with His laws; hence the opportunity for the existence and influence of false beliefs which sometimes generate discords in mortal man, which are manifested in what we call sickness.

For some time it has been quite apparent to me that I must not withhold my testimony any longer, for in that way, too, I should show my gratitude to God, and to Mrs.
When I came into Christian Science, over a year ago, it was after all material means had failed me, and when, utterly discouraged, I had decided to submit to the inevitable—as it seemed to me at that time—and cease striving.
Through the understanding of Truth which I have gained in Christian Science, and especially through a sense of the liberating power of divine Love, I have been able to realize the absolute unreality of many phases of mortal mind, so called.
I esteem it a privilege as well as a duty to offer grateful acknowledgment of the many blessings that have come to me through the application of the teachings of Christian Science.
