THE LECTURES

Rev. William P. McKenzie lectured here on Christian Science, Dec. 14. He was introduced by Floyd F. Putman, assistant state attorney, who said in part,—

Probably there are today no people more misunderstood than the Christian Scientists, and it is in order that this misconception may be removed from the minds of the public that these lectures are given. Christian Science stands for a great deal more than is the prevailing opinion. It stands for love, for truth, for universal brotherhood, for the oneness and omnipotence of God. It is the Science of Christ and the exponent of his divine teachings. It is a religion of optimism; it teaches peace and joy, health and kindness. It is a religion of tolerance, and quarrels with no man because of his belief; it only seeks to lead men to see the truth, to realize the futility of doubt and fear, and to inspire mankind with love and hope, with confidence in the unlimited beneficence of the divine purpose.—Correspondence.
