Would that I could find words sufficiently expressive of the gratitude I feel for the benefits received through Christian Science. For twenty-three years I was in ill health, and for ten years of that time an invalid, suffering from severe nervous and rheumatic trouble, involving the throat and tongue, besides other ills almost too numerous to mention. One can well see that such a condition was not conducive to happiness, and I was not happy, but was fast reaching a state bordering on melancholy, haunted constantly with the thought that my remaining years would be spent in an asylum. Many physicians attended me, both at home and in other cities, but their remedies gave me no relief. Two of the physicians were members of my own family, and I was given the most constant and loving care, but they, too, failed to help me.

It has now been more than three years since I was healed by Christian Science, and from that time until now I have not used any material remedies. I became a member of an orthodox church in early years, but was fast growing away from its teachings. I read the Bible daily, but failed to comprehend it. I had heard of Christian Science, but spoke of it only in derision. Through long suffering and many tribulations I was, however, made willing to accept the help which Christian Science had to offer, and in a moment of desperation I asked for treatment. Truly "man's extremity is God's opportunity," for I was healed in one treatment; and I knew it, because all things seemed new, and that peace which the apostle tells us "passeth all understanding," permeated my whole being. Since my healing the Bible has become clearer and dearer to me, and I am grateful for our text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, for from the reading of this inspiring book my confidence and trust in God have been increased. My heart is overflowing with gratitude for this pure and noble woman, who has labored so unselfishly for the past forty years to make plain to the world this wonderous healing truth.—IDA SPRINGER, Wilmington, N. C.
