THE LECTURES

On Sunday afternoon [Nov. 22] a public lecture on the teachings of Christian Science was delivered by one of the prominent lecturers of the organization, Francis J. Fluno, M.D., of Oakland, Cal. The Detroit Opera House, which seats twenty—three hundred, was crowded was crowded to the doors. More than that, about one thousand were turned away. There was, too, a striking uniformity in the audience which heard this lecture. It was an audience of nearly three thousand unusually well—dressed, thoughtful, intelligent men and women.

The conclusion is inevitable that Christian Science in some extraordinary way appeals to a vital, personal interest. Nearly all of us are more or less sick in mind or body or both. Christian Science, more confidently than any other sect, promises a cure. What more natural than that hundreds should be attracted to it?—Detroit Journal.
