My little girl, who had been ailing slightly for two or three days, took a cold bath, remaining in the water about an hour. At the time she seemed to be refreshed, but that night she had a high fever and was quick sick. Not being able to meet the attack, I went to a Christian Science practitioner in the morning, and told her what had been done, whereupon she decided to come and see the child, who was still very miserable. Treatment was then given, and by the following day the child was covered with an eruption. For one day her throat was very sore, and the eyes affected so that we kept the room darkened, but the next day she was sitting up, eating nicely, and the eyes were almost normal again. The case was reported to the board of health, but as the officer did not make his appearance for four days, his remark was that she had certainly had an eruptive fever but it was a very light case; and long before the quarantine was removed there was no sign of the disease left. Under material treatment we should probably have had a very sick child, but the truth is quick and sure, and this was realized so thoroughly that error simply fled as darkness before the light.
