Nine years ago the gladdest sunshine that ever shone into human consciousness entered my life, and it was the light of Truth that came with the reading of Mrs. Eddy's book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." The perusal of this book healed me of severe headaches, stomach trouble, and many other ailments. Whereas I used to be impatient, cross, and discontented, I became patient, loving, and contented. About four four weeks after I began to study Christian Science, I passed through an experience which usually requires the attendance of a doctor and nurse; but I relied entirely on the understanding of the presence and power of divine Love which this book had given me, and through constant reading the truth proved to be surgeon, nurse, and doctor. I was not even near a Christian Science practitioner, and I came through the experience without a day's illness. For nine years the light of Love and Life has glorified my being, and during this time Christian Science has healed my children of colds and fevers and many other ailments, and has healed them quickly. In the winter of 1907, one little girl was said to have an attack of lung trouble, but with one hour of Christian Science treatment the symptoms had disappeared. In a few days she was perfectly well, so well that she went away with me and spent a month traveling, and though exposed to changes of temperature and of climate, she did not have even a cold. Twice my children have been in a house where the children of neighbors were suffering from contagion, but they remained perfectly well. During an epidemic yellow cards were on three sides of our house and many children were kept from school, but ours were not absent a day and we passed through the season in health and safety.

The study of Mrs. Eddy's books and the Christian Science literature has taught me to love God and to have faith in His promises, to love mankind and help to heal and uplift men, to be more patient and loving to others. I love Christian Science because it has given me a spiritual sense of God and His creation; thus bringing much joy and sweetness into my life, and I love Mrs. Eddy because she has made known to us the Comforter which Jesus promised should come. For this reason, I think Mrs. Eddy is the greatest woman the world has ever known, "great not like Cæsar," but great because she is good. I am grateful for my own healing and for that of my children, for the spiritual sense of life, and for the sweet assurance and proof that God is Love.
