In coming home from school one day last March, my twelve-year-old daughter stumbled and fell, injuring her right arm severely. When she came home I noticed something unusual in her appearance, but there was company present and I did not wish to arouse any fear or anxiety. Later, on learning what had happened, I immediately denied sensation in matter, and after talking to her a few moments I sent her to a Christian Science friend with the request that she would treat her, as it seemed to be impossible for me to do anything for her just then on account of my own fear and the surrounding thought. When she came home about four o'clock she was feeling better, and suffered very little pain that evening. She slept soundly all night, but next morning her hand and arm presented an alarming appearance. She could not use her arm or hand, and carried it in a sling for several days, but suffered no pain except occasionally for a few minutes at a time. The injury was received Tuesday noon, and my friend continued to treat the child until Sunday evening, when she was called away from home. I then took up the case, and the child went to school Monday morning and did all her work, writing, etc., with the hand which had been injured. She continued to improve, and at the end of another week she could play the piano or do anything that she wished without the slightest inconvenience. She read Science and Health a great deal during this time, and was as happy as a child could be, singing and skipping wherever she went.

To see a child pass through such an experience with so little pain and inconvenience was indeed a blessing. I am trying to live up to the teaching of Christian Science, and it has already brought me more peace and happiness than anything else I have ever experienced. I know that I am only beginning to catch a gleam of the "true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world," but I am truly thankful to our Leader for having lived and labored that we might enjoy this greatest of all blessings. I am learning to know that, like the Master, "I can of mine own self do nothing," "but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works."
