It is with the deepest gratitude that I look back on nearly three years of health and harmony, brought to me through the healing of several chronic illnesses from which I had been a sufferer. In the spring of 1906 I had a severe attack of nervous and stomach trouble, also an affection of the heart from which I had suffered since childhood. My case baffled the efforts of a specialist in this malady, and after lying four months without any apparent help, Christian Science was brought to my notice by a friend of my husband. At this period I was willing to try anything, so we informed the attending physician that we had decided to make a trial of Christian Science. He was very much opposed to any such step, and told my mother that as a friend he could not let the stomach and heart difficulty be treated by them: the nervous affection he thought they might help, but if I attempted to get on my feet too soon I might die at once.
It was therefore with fear that my mother and husband decided to call for Science treatment, but it was a last resort. Never shall I forget the joy and sunshine that came into our home with the first visit of the practitioner. In two days' time I was up and down stairs, and on the fifth day had a long automobile ride. I had not slept normally for months, and now I could sleep all night. It is needless to say that we are now members of the Christian Science church, my mother coming in through my healing. My joy and gratitude are beyond all bounds, for today I have perfect health and harmony, and a growing knowledge of God, good.
I wish to tell of a recent demonstration in an obstetrical case. We have an eight-months-old son, born under Science treatment, and he is a beautiful babe. A great many laws of mortal belief were broken in this case, laws laid upon me by several physicians, who said that I could never be a mother on account of the heart affection, but thanks to God these were overcome and proven unreal. I am I am thankful to God for the healing and knowledge that has come to me. thankful to Mrs. Eddy that through her this practical religion has been demonstrated and proven, and very grateful for the patience and love with which I was guided into health and harmony.
