I write this in deep gratitude to God, and to our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for the great benefit Christian Science has been to me. For many years I suffered intense agony from female trouble. Our family physician treated me regularly, almost daily, for two years, trying to relieve my suffering. He told me that the trouble was organic. I had four operations performed; one by a specialist, and he confirmed all that our family physician had said. They both said that maternity would be impossible for me, that it would mean death to both myself and child. During sixteen years' time I had several dangerous illnesses, and when in May, 1907, I again found myself in a condition which presaged another, despondency and fear almost overcame me. I, however, prayed earnestly for two days, asking God to help, guide, and lead me in the way that would deliver me from the dreaded ordeal. After two days of sincere prayer I decided upon a Christian Science practitioner, and I wrote to her at once. She treated me faithfully, and the results of her work were wonderful indeed.
After I had been under treatment for three months, I felt a decided change take place. I felt well and strong, and did all of my housework for four months, with none of the disagreeable symptoms of former occasions. My confinement was safe, quick, and almost painless, and the child is a fine, healthy girl. I sat up the third day, and in a day or two more was about my work. The child and myself are in perfect health—thank God, whose law annuls all asserted material laws and makes free from "the law of sin and death."
My heart overflows with gratitude to God, and to our dear Leader, who has passed through the Red Sea and is leading us out of darkness into the glorious light of Truth. Christian Science is indeed the way of escape from sin, disease, and death. My husband and I are very thankful for all that this truth has done for us, the proofs that all things are possible with God.
