I have no words in which to express adequately my gratitude for what Christian Science has done for me, but I give this testimony with pleasure, hoping it may be the means of helping some one. I first heard of Christian Science about three years ago. I had suffered for years from stomach and nervous troubles, sleeplessness, and other ills. I had been treated by some of the best physicians in the East, had tried all kinds of medicine, baths, and electric treatments, "rest-cures" at sanitariums, etc., but without finding any permanent relief.
I was most miserable and very much discouraged when I applied for Christian Science treatment. I went to see a practitioner, and asked her if she thought I could be helped in Christian Science. She said she knew I could be healed, and she seemed very positive about it. As I knew nothing of Christian Science, I thought it neither wise nor just to contradict her, so I told her I was willing to have her treat me, and I would give Christian Science a fair trial. She told me to get a copy of Science and Health, by Mrs. Eddy, and to read it; and I did as I was told. I do not know just when I was healed, but in less than ten days I was eating what was set before me, for we were boarding at the time, and I could sleep all night long, something I had not done for months. It seemed almost too good to be true, but in the study of Science and Health I had grasped enough of the truth to know that it was true.
I feel very grateful for this physical healing, but no words can express my gratitude for the understanding I have gained of what God is, as taught in Christian Science. The Bible has become a new book to me. I have had many demonstrations to prove that God is an ever-present help, and that our prayers are answered when we pray aright. I have had better health the past three years than ever in my life before, and not only have I been physically free, but I have been free the fear of getting sick. I consider it the greatest privilege I have to know of this wonderful truth.
