In her lecture on this subject a critic says, "What is done by Christian Science can be accomplished by other methods." We find the same argument used in the Bible when the magicians in Moses' time would not be convinced that the God of Israel was more powerful than their gods, but at last they were compelled to admit that the wonders performed by Moses were wrought by "the finger of God." Those who understand the Principle of Christian Science can demonstrate this by healing the sick; the inability to do this proves that one does not understand its teaching sufficiently to criticize it. I myself am not a member of the Christian Science Church, but I sincerely admit the spirit of brotherly love in which Scientists always answer criticisms of their doctrine. They not only talk about "love," but they show it even to their bitterest enemies—would to God this spirit was displayed by all professing Christians; we should not then hear of empty churches and chapels.
