Though not a professed follower of Christian Science, yet I have seen sufficient proofs in my own family to satisfy me that it is the truth, and I gladly give a recent demonstration in my own case. I came home from my engine one morning (I was on night duty) with a sore throat and feeling generally miserable. I slept but little during the day, growing worse as the hours passed, and was unable to go to work that night. My wife asked me which I preferred to have, a doctor or a Christian Science practitioner, and my answer was, "Anything for quick relief." She at once telephoned to a practitioner, who began treatment. I passed a restless night, and though I was able to get up and dress the next morning, I spent most of the day lying down. The practitioner called in the morning and gave me another treatment, and my wife read Science and Health to me during the day. By evening my temperature was almost normal, and that night I rested quite comfortably.

The third morning I got up and read the paper, went to a neighbor's in the afternoon, and could have gone to work that evening, but preferred to go for a ride with my wife. The following day I returned to work, and in another day my throat was healed, and I have been perfectly well ever since. I was afterwards told that the symptoms were quite serious. I had had two or three similar attacks in the past few years, and each time was under care of a doctor for a much longer period.
