In August, 1905, I was very ill with stomach trouble. I had been treated by doctors for seven years, but grew worse day by day, and had given up all hope, as all the doctors told me there were two things against me, my age (I am seventy-five years old) and lack of strength. A friend then asked me why I did not try Christian Science, and said she would loan me her book if I would read it. I said I would like to buy one, and asked her where I could get it, and she said at the Reading Rooms. She went there with me, and I bought a copy of the Christian Science text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, and went home. I began reading the book about half past five in the afternoon, and continued until half past two in the morning, when I knew that the truth had made me free. I thanked God for the truth which had healed me. I could say, "I will love thee, O Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust." I found the truth that made me free, and I have had many benefits since that time. My husband has also been helped, and we give thanks to God for Christian Science—for all we have received from the truth. I am trying to live free from worldly things; to realize that God, Truth, fills all space. I have been blessed with good health and happiness, and try to live closer to Truth day by day, as our dear Leader teaches us to do.
