For fifteen years I was a sufferer from neuralgic trouble, often being in bed months at a time. My doctor said nothing could be done but to amputate the big toe, and then the trouble might appear in another joint. My husband took me to New York, where the doctor strapped the foot with bandages, which I wore for six months. By that time I could walk again, but in a year and a half I had another and much more severe attack. I went to Nashville for treatment, and afterward to Philadelphia, besides often trying osteopathy and massage; being benefited each time for some months, but a little unusual exercise would put me back on crutches, and often in bed. Two years ago last spring I had been unusually well for several months, but again my hopes were blighted. In June, after having been confined to my room for six weeks, I met a Christian Science practitioner. I talked with her and decided to take Christian Science treatment, feeling that if there was any help for me God would surely give it. In two weeks I walked down two flights of steps and went to church; improved steadily, and have never used crutches since. I had also suffered for many years from bowel trouble, taking medicine daily, but that was given up also.
I now visit and go about as I wish, although my friends never expected to see me walk again like other people, as I am nearly sixty-four years old. A few Sundays ago I went to church in the morning, again in the afternoon, and then at night, which would have been doing well even for a young person, as I had walked fourteen blocks. The next day I was able to spend another busy, happy day. I shall always praise God for healing me through Christian Science. I enjoy reading Science and Health, and get much comfort from it.
