I have received so many benefits from Christian Science...
I have received so many benefits from Christian Science that I feel I should like to tell of them, in the hope that my experience may help some one else. Christian Science found me a complete wreck mentally, physically, and financially. I had suffered from a severe and dangerous form of stomach trouble until it seemed at times as though I would surely lose my mind. I had allowed personal and private troubles to worry and grieve me to the extent that on several occasions I provided myself with the means to end my own life, but fear and shame would induce me to defer the day. Lung trouble had left me in a weakened condition, accompanied by a severe cough. I was unable to obtain employment at this time, and was sinking into hopeless despair; but after taking Christian Science treatment for awhile, I began to see an improvement. All the world began to look brighter; I soon secured employment, and from that time on I have never had any fear of lack, for I have learned to look to God to supply all my needs. My healing was slow, and for this I am truly grateful, for the spiritual uplifting which I received at this time was greater than I can express.
Last December, as I was leaving the building where I was employed, the large iron gate of the elevator broke from its pulleys, falling with a terrific crash on my head. I was able to realize the truth almost instantly, and although I was badly stunned did not lose consciousness. I did not think the injury to be as bad as it really was, and for three days tried to meet it alone. On the third day I sent word early in the morning to a practitioner, for absent treatment to enable me to reach her house. The young lady who carried the message failed to state the nature of the illness, and the practitioner waited for me to come until three o'clock that afternoon, when she became convinced that she must come to me. She found me alone and unconscious, and immediately proceeded to work on the case, although not knowing of the accident. By nine o'clock the stupor and delirium had passed away and my mind was perfectly clear.
The claim of injustice presented itself at this time. The insurance company with which the firm carried insurance on all their employes, refused to settle because no physician had been called. My practitioner immediately gave permission for their medical examiner to make his examination, which he did, declaring the injury to be very severe. He also said the healing was progressing rapidly, but that I would not be able to go to work for many weeks yet. My friends expressed the fear that I would never regain my reason, but while there were many days of mental darkness, I had no fear, for I knew that God governed my whole being harmoniously. In just four weeks I was back at work, completely healed. The claim of injustice was beautifully overcome. Every dollar of expense and wages was cheerfully paid by the insurance company.
