These words are to tell of the fruits and benefits received from reading "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." In Science I commenced with an honest heart the warfare between the spirit and the flesh. For five years I had been taking medicine for bowel trouble, but I had been reading in the Christian Science text-book only two days when I threw all medicine away and had nothing to overcome. After this demonstration I continued my reading in Science and Health with renewed faith in the truth. I was overjoyed; I then thought these seeming realities would never visit my house again, but soon I found out that I must know myself, and this is not an easy task. I had been subject each winter to colds and sore throat, and I felt this fear three days before it manifested itself on the body. Before I had always gone to a doctor. Now this ailment was met instantaneously by putting aside all worldly things and going to our Father by prayer,—the healing prayer which is not lip service.

Mrs. Eddy tells us on page 14 of Science and Health, "Become conscious for a single moment that Life and intelligence are purely spiritual,—neither in nor of matter,—and the body will then utter no complaints." So my first demonstration was made by simply trusting God, the second one by a higher sense of prayer. Later I had to call a practitioner, for I was laboring under a sense of the mistakes of the past, and this was the hardest fight of all, but truth prevailed. The night before I went to the practitioner it seemed to be a struggle for life, but morning dawned with radiant light, and these words came to me very clearly: "Choose ye this day whom ye will serve." I went to a practitioneer, who told me I was trying to reach perfection before I understood all the demands of Principle, God. She talked to me very kindly, and opened my spiritual understanding.

I would say to those who are just a little interested in Christian Science, Read "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by our beloved Leader. To me this book expresses divine Truth, the Rock of Ages, the headstone of the corner. Jesus said, "Many are called, but few are chosen." My prayer is that I may be chosen. I love our Leader, and rejoice that I am living in this age with her.
