I wish to tell my experience in Christian Science, and the benefits that I have received through it. For over twenty years I was a great sufferer with stomach and rheumatic trouble, also a skin disease since I was fourteen years old. I am now in my fiftieth year, so any one can see that my suffering was long and severe; in fact I had often thought of taking my own life, to put an end to my distress, as there seemed to be no cure for me, for after all the medical treatment that had been given me there was no permanent cure. From December, 1906, to March, 1907, I was under medical treatment for the stomach trouble, but only received a short release, as in August the same complaint had me in its grip as bad as ever. I then decided not to take, any more medicine or have any doctor attend me, but to take my own life. I left home with that intention, but on nearing the place selected for the purpose thoughts passed through my mind which are far beyond my power to express, but I felt that God was about to show me the way to better health and to happiness.

Soon after this time Christian Science was first brought to my notice in the form of a copy of the Christian Science Sentinel, which I read several times over. A desire came to me to know more about Christian Science, although there was no thought that any relief could come to me. I had indeed lost all hope, but even in the fear and doubt that beset me I turned to God in fervent supplication that He would make me free. I do not know if there was doubt in my humble pleading to God, but this I do know—God answered my prayer, and He is fulfilling the promise made through Christ Jesus. Truth is healing my bodily sickness, and the spiritual uplifting has given me a peace and happiness that I had never known before. It is worth all I have suffered to know that God has not passed me by.

The study of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" shows that it is possible for all men to know the truth, and I thank Mrs. Eddy that through Christian Science and her works of love and unselfishness I know for myself that God is Love.
