Christian Science is daily showing proof of its intensely practical nature by the healing of all forms of sickness, the overcoming of vice and vicious habits and appetites, and the bringing of comfort and happiness to thousands of homes and families.

The principal objection of your reporter to Christian Science appears to be in the teaching of Mrs. Eddy concerning the unreality of matter, which doctrine he seems to think no sane or common-sense person can accept. In so judging he overlooks the fact that the Christian Science teaching is based upon the Scriptural declaration that God is Spirit, and that everything He has made, in order to be perfect, unchanging, and to last forever, must be spiritual. God, being infinite and all-powerful, could not create anything unlike Himself, Spirit. Paul says, "For the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal." This use of the word temporal shows that Paul taught that matter is not eternal, and is therefore unreal. In Ecclesiastes we read, "Whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it," showing matter to be no part of God's eternal creation, for if it were it would last forever, and could not be spoken of as temporal.

Furthermore, the teaching of Christian Science on this point is being rapidly corroborated by the latest discoveries of the most eminent scientists of the world, such as Professor Oswald, Sir Oliver Lodge, Prof. Elmer Gates, the late Lord Kelvin, Professor Poincare, Prof. Osborne Reynolds, Professor Ramsey, and others. The Boston Journal some time ago said editorially:—
