It need hardly be pointed out that Christian Science and Mrs. Eddy, the Founder and Leader of this faith, are decidedly in line with the spirit of progress which dominates all things at this hour. The fact that thousands testify to being healed morally and physically because of this faith, is an evidence that mankind are breaking loose from the bondage of ignorance and fear. The intelligent and cultured, as well as the uninformed in humbler walks of life, are being awakened to the possibilities of practical Christian living, and are laying hold upon the healing truths demonstrated in our Saviour's life and works.

Jesus said, "Believe me for the very works' sake." He sought to show what he meant by practical example, and if it had not been that Christian Scientists have had their healing work so frequently misunderstood and misinterpreted, so to speak, by those who little appreciate its significance, I venture to say that the public would have seldom been called upon to listen to any explanations from Christian Scientists regarding their work. The healing accomplished through Christian Science is putting this faith where few voices are lifted to question it. Its practice speaks far more eloquently than volumes of explanation, hence the vast number of people found adhering to its precepts.

Christian Scientists reverence the Bible. It is studied by all who accept this faith as the Word of Life. While the text-book of Christian Science is in its truest sense a "Key to the Scriptures," it in no sense displaces them, but rather stimulates interest and study in the Holy Word. I would not hesitate to estimate that hundreds of thousands of Bibles have been bought, and studied, as a result of Mrs. Eddy's teaching. The pulpits of the Christian Science churches may be said to rest upon the Holy Scriptures. The midweek meetings of this church are thronged with people, who are given opportunity to testify publicly to their spiritual awakening and physical healing through the word and power of God.
