In June, 1903, while at work at Marathon, Ia., my health gave way completely. I could walk only a short distance, then had to rest. I was being treated for heart trouble by a doctor of that place, and at last he told me that he could not cure me, neither could any one else. I had been treated for this heart trouble for more than twenty years, but was gradually growing worse. When the doctor told me there was no help for me, I thought my time had surely come. Having two little girls back East, I wanted to see them before the end came, so I started for Anderson, Ind., my old home. After leaving Chicago I began to wonder where I was going to stay, as I had very little money, in fact not enough to keep me two weeks. Finally I thought of a cousin who had lost his wife quite recently and was trying to keep house alone, so I went there.

I had not thought of Christian Science, but the first thing I saw in the way of reading matter was an old copy of the Christian Science Journal. This I devoured for a while, then borrowed a copy of Science and Health, and when I took it back to the owner I found out where I could have treatment. I had a treatment, then came home, and afterwards was treated absently. I think the first treatment was all I needed, as I began to improve immediately. I began to do light work in six weeks, and in three months was doing heavy work. To-day I am as strong as I was twenty years ago. There are some ailments that have not yielded as yet, but I do not blame Christian Science for it. If I had followed Mrs. Eddy's teaching thoroughly (God bless her), I am satisfied I would be perfectly free to-day.—R. L. Lewark, Spencer, Ia.
