[Written for the Sentinel.]

SAFETY

In Thee, the Life, the Truth, the Light, Of all existence pure,
From secret foe, from tempter's blight,
In Thee I rest secure.

In Thee alone, my God, my King,
I'm safe from aught that harms!
And upward mount, on eager wing,
To Love's protecting arms.

May no allurement come between
This Love, this Truth, and me;
From self, and sense, and sins unseen,
May I find rest in Thee.

Thus may I live no life save Thine;
No other love possess;
May I within Thy law divine
Find all my happiness.
