A few years ago my sister-in-law, a Christian Science...

A few years ago my sister-in-law, a Christian Science practitioner, was visiting us in Chicago, and during her stay she healed our little daughter in one treatment of a severe earache which had been intermittent for a long period. The healing was so complete and effectual that the child has never suffered from the earache since. Her healing so strongly appealed to me that I found myself contrasting this quick, sure, and painless cure with the long, painful, expensive, and apparently hopeless treatmewnt I was receiving from the doctors in my own case, which was becoming more and more an aggravated and extremely painful disorder of the stomach. It had reached such an acute stage that I could not count on myself. I would frequently have to leave the office for a day or so, and occasionally for weeks at a time. I was becoming fearful that I could not keep up my business life, but would be forced to live in some country district, or at least some small rural town, where there would be little if any drain upon or call for that nervous energy and force considered so essential in the business activities of our modern cities; and worst of all, I might become dependent upon others. These fears were dreadful, and as I now know, did not help matters any; yet it was these very things that decided me at least to try, without more than the average layman's prejudice, Christian Science treatments.

The results have been simply marvelous, if not miraculous. In four present treatments (I know not how many absent ones there may have been), covering a period of two weeks only, I was cured. After the second treatment the acute pain left me and I was able to sleep. Finally all pain left me, and I have been eating and sleeping as well as I ever did; further, the fear of a relapse has been entirely destroyed. If Christian Science can do so much for an outsider, what joy and peace it must bring to one who understands it. I am reading "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, and trust I will soon be able to take the subject in hand more seriously, and pursue it until I, too, understand it.
