About six years ago my son, then a young man, caught a severe cold, which in belief settled on his lungs. I undertook to help him in Christian Science, and he seemed to improve for a while, but what made his case so formidable to me was the fact that his father's family had many of them died with a dreaded lung trouble, and that thought seemed to hold fear over me with an iron grip. One day my sister-in-law told me that she feared I would not have my son with me long. This startled me, and we decided that he had better have other help, so he at once placed himself under the care of a regular practitioner. He began to improve with the first treatment, and after about seven months of faithful work he thought himself nearly well. When he met our old family physician on the street one day, the doctor, knowing he was having Christian Science treatment, inquired how he was getting along. My son spoke of how much better he was feeling, and the doctor asked permission to examine his lungs, as he was a kind friend of ours and not at all antagonistic to Christian Science. After he had finished the examination he told my son that his lung was now "almost sound," but that it had been in a very bad condition. My son continued to improve, and had regained his usual health.
