In attempting to write my testimony I realize how inadequate...

In attempting to write my testimony I realize how inadequate are words to express the gratitude I feel for Christian Science, which came to me as an angel of light, at the time of my greatest need. For many months I had been an invalid, with little hope of ever being well again, from the effects of a fall. My life was one of constant suffering, indeed I shudder now when I think of the days and nights I passed through. Nothing that was done for me, and no tender care, could give me one day's relief, and I longed to die.

With joy I listened to what Christian Science could do, and from the first I gave up my medicine (fifteen doses a day) and turned from sense to Soul. In three weeks' time I was up and about the house, and oh, so happy. My complete recovery was slow, however, owing to opposition and the tenacity of mortal belief. I decided to give up all else except my daily duties, that I might have time to read and study. I realized each day that the way would be opened, and that I would surely see it. The way has been opened; and in our home, where once with my six children we were always having a doctor, now we are free from this kind of bondage, such ailments as come up being quickly met by the power of Truth. The children have lost much of their former fear, and are daily understanding more and more how to help themselves, not only for health, but for character, knowing that the overcoming of hate and unkindness is very necessary to health and happiness, which are parts of God's kingdom on earth.

My heart also goes out in very tender affection to Mrs. Eddy, our Leader, who, holding this truth for a waiting world, has illumined to this age the way up to God which Christ marked out for mankind. I am sure every Christian Scientist feels like repeating with his whole soul the glad refrain sung by the angels above the hillside of Judea: "Golry to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men."
