A CHRISTIAN'S GREETING

Just to greet you
In the dear old words the angels sing;
Just to meet you
Where the shepherds found their baby King.

Just to ponder
What the bells are ringing, near and far,
As we wander,
Ever guided by the eastern star.

Just to tarry
Till we catch the sunlight on his face;
Just to carry
In our smile for others all our grace.

Just to lighten
Through this sweet reflection thoughts of strife;
Just to brighten
Aching eyes with gladder songs of Life.

Just to spell you
Love, and light, and joy,—one little word;
Just to tell you
How you'll find it written,—Christ, the Lord!
