In the more than two years that I have been reading the Sentinel and Journal I have received very great spiritual help from them, and I hope my testimony may be a help to some one. At the time I became interested in Christian Science I had been a church-member over thirty years, and had tried to live consistently with its teachings, being all that time actively engaged in church work. I always felt, however, that there were deeper truths, and that the healing power which the disciples had should be ours. I had talked with ministers and other Christians about my spiritual unrest, but no one could help me.

My husband and mother having received help in Christian Science from physical conditions which medicine had failed to reach, I was led to investigate the subject for myself, not for physical relief but for spiritual understanding. I became a subscriber to the Sentinel and Journal, and purchased a copy of Science and Health. I began to read the text-book, having asked God's help to be able to know if it was the truth. My first demonstration was after reading a short article in the Sentinel, "Instant in Prayer." I had burned my hand severely, and the pain seemed intense, but almost instantly, remembering the above article, also Mrs. Eddy's advice to prove the truth by putting into use what we could understand, I commenced to declare God's allness and unchangeableness, and man's relation as His child. The Bible narrative of the man with the withered hand also came to my thought and strengthened my faith, and even while I was looking at it my hand was restored from a seared condition to a natural one. This was absolute proof to me of the truth of Christian Science.

Some weeks later, my horse ran away and I received what seemed to be severe injuries, but I desired no other treatment than Christian Science. This was my test, and I rejoiced that I was able to rely on God for healing; nor was I disappointed. The accident occurred near the home of one whose understanding of Truth is beautiful, and with the charity of the good Samaritan she had me taken into her house, my wounds were washed and dressed, and I was put to bed comfortable. This was Thursday noon, and by Friday evening I was able to be dressed and taken home. Saturday I could move around the house; on Sunday I walked to a Christian Science service, and on Monday resumed my teaching of music, climbing a steep hill to do so. In exactly two weeks every trace of the injury was gone, although I am fully satisfied that to mortal sense the injury to the spine was of a serious nature.
