Several years previous to October, 1903, I developed...
Several years previous to October, 1903, I developed a peculiar hip trouble, which took the form of acute pain. The attacks would come at intervals of several weeks, and gradually became more frequent and more intense, until I suffered nearly all the time. I was treated by a number of physicians, and also had osteopathic treatment; but none of these doctors could agree as to the cause of the trouble, and as a result I was very miserable for a long time. I finally went to a specialist here, who advised an operation after his treatment had failed. During the time I was seeking relief I spent a large amount of money. My last physician charged five dollars a visit and I went twice a week for some time. I had also tried so-called mental science, but in no case did I experience any permanent relief. One day, while down town in the shopping district, I was taken with a very violent pain in my hip, and almost fainted. With my mother's assistance I went into a building in which several Christian Science practitioners have their offices, and entered the first office I came to. I left the office in a short time and can truthfully say that I was healed of the hip trouble in the treatment then received. I continued for some time to take treatment for minor ailments, which were all overcome through Christian Science. I have gained in weight and my general health is very good. My entire family are interested in Christian Science.
