New York American
The Rev. Dr. Madison C. Peters, in his sermon last evening [April 28] in the Majestic Theater, on "The Good in Christian Science," said: "Christian Science promises not only life and happiness beyond the grave, but health, success, and happiness here. Based upon observation, her [Mrs. Eddy's] followers are far more healthy than members of other churches, and it is claimed that they are more successful and happy than other professing Christians. If this claim is true, and in the main I believe it true, then Christian Science is a challenge to other churches.
"I believe that Christian Science to-day, in proportion to its numbers, is exerting more influence for good on the world than any other religious force at work. It is an undoubted fact that Bible teaches health and success and promises life and happiness here and hereafter, and unless the other Christian churches will use power to prevent disease and heal sickness. Christian Science will steadily grow. To change bad effects we must change the thinking that produces them. I believe church members should be happier than they are and take example from the Christian Scietists, who I know are happier in their belief than other church people. What Christian Scientists are doing to-day all professing Christians should do they should think right as the basis of happiness, and live clean to conquer disease."
