I wish to express my gratitude for the truth I found in...
I wish to express my gratitude for the truth I found in Christian Science. For more than thirty years I suffered from chronic stomach and bowel trouble. For many years a trained nurse, I was prescribed for by numerous physicians and surgeons with small relief and never a cure. After leaving this work, I underwent a serious operation; then followed extreme nervousness, for which I tried physical culture, with small results. Soon after I removed to San Diego, Cal., from New York State, hoping the beautiful climate would cure me, but it failed. I next tried osteopathy. At the end of all, and on the verge of insanity, I remembered that a Christian Scientist, when leaving our hotel, where he and his wife had been for a short time, handed me a folded paper, saying, "I believe if your brother will get this book and read it, it will cure him." My brother was a confirmed invalid, and did not pay any heed to the advice. I however, remembered it, and though nearly a year had passed, I asked for the book, which was Science and Health. After reading it for a few days, I sought a practitioner and asked for treatment, which was given, the practitioner telling me to go home and eat whatever I liked, and to come again the second day after. I had the second treatment, when to my great joy I was healed! I continued the treatments for a time, as I was involved in business troubles which it seemed that only the courts could decide. I soon found myself in almost perfect health, and my brother, as well as others of the family, sought the truth and are on the way to health.
Greater than physical healing is the spiritual uplifting. Through entire trust in divine Mind the business difficulties were adjusted out of court, and daily I strive to reflect Love, as our Leader teaches. My earnest wish is that every would look into Christian Science, learn the way out of sin, sickness, and a belief in death, to perfect health and happiness. I feel truly grateful for the sowing of the seed which has brought forth so great a harvest; and a gratitude I cannot express for all our Leader, Mrs. Eddy. has given to the world.
Mrs. Mary Wakley, San Diego, Cal.
