I desire to express in some small measure my ever-increasing...

I desire to express in some small measure my ever-increasing sense of gratitude for the blessings which Christian Science has shed upon my earthly path, by healing my diseases and bringing me out of darkness into Truth's eternal light. I first heard of Christian Science in July, 1905, when some Scientists came to stay where I live (as servant). One lady, seeing that I was suffering from asthmatic trouble, told me she was sure I could be healed, although I had suffered for eight years from this trouble, weakness of the heart, etc. I had tried all sorts of medicines, and had been told by four doctors that I could not be cured. I had given up all hope; but the lady said Christian Science could help me. She began to treat me at once and lent me "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" to read. The first week I was a little better, and when the lady left, at the end of three weeks, I had no signs of the asthmatic trouble. This was such a great and grand revelation to me that I only partly grasped it, but the treatment was continued until in October all the ailments had given way, and the healing was complete. The same month I was able to be present at the Thanksgiving service at First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Manchester, and the great spiritual uplifting I received will always be to me one of the blessings of Christian Science. The one great impression this visit made upon me was the love to one another that existed among the congregation. The beauty, the peace, the harmony and love was so very real, for it was not only seen but lived. My mother, too, who was quite a helpless invalid at that time, can now walk about and do her daily duties through the help of Christian Science, and neither my mother nor I have taken any medicine since the first treatment.

Words cannot express the gratitude I feel for all the blessings I enjoy from the knowledge of this great truth, and I thank God that our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, has been led step by step to the truth that makes free. I am thankful for having been helped into the light of understanding, and I am very grateful for the Lesson-Sermons, the Sentinel, and our other Christian Science literature. My earnest desire is that I may live a life worthy of the name of Christian Science.
