For about forty-three years I had been seeking, from...
For about forty-three years I had been seeking, from Socrates to Emerson, a solution of the life-problem, and mental harmony in ancient and modern philosophy, metaphysics, and psychology, in studying symbolism, mysticism, occultism, etc. Since the Parliament of Religions I have been very closely identified with many isms, cults, clubs, and societies, also the different schools of advanced thought and mental therapeutics, hygiene, "nature cures," physical culture, dieting, fasting, fasting, etc., without obtaining permanent satisfaction, until last September, when I began in earnest the study of Christian Science. Mrs. Eddy says in "Miscellaneous Writings" p. 181), "When we understand man's true birthright ... we shall understand that man is the offspring of Spirit, and not of the flesh." The understanding of this truth has given me the peace of mind which "passeth all understanding," and has healed me of catarrhal and kidney trouble, also blood-poison of over twenty-five years standing, caused by sensuality and excessive indulgence in the drink and tobacco habits for more than forty years.
For the overcoming of these and many other ailments, for the mental emancipation and liberation from Egyptian bondage, and for the spiritual regeneration of both mind and body. I wish to express my great love and gratitude to God, and to our Leader, also to the Publishing Society.—John F. Morgan, Pasadena, Cal.
