"A JOYOUS STATE OF MIND"
In its report of the annual meeting of The Mother Church held Tuesday, June 11, The Boston Globe said,—
The aspect of the gathering and the tone of all that was said indicated a joyous state of mind among the Scientists, notwithstanding the unusually bitter attacks made upon the movement of late. It was reported that the past year had witnessed larger audiences at the lectures, both in this country and abroad, a much wider circulation of the literature, and a greater manifestation of interest in Christian Science generally throughout the world than any previous year in the Church's history.
The above aptly describes the mental attitude of those who attended the annual meeting, as well as the attitude of those who took part in the Communion services on the previous Sunday, and it is not at all surprising that the joy and peace which Christian Science imparts to its followers should have been manifested in the appearance of so representative a gathering of members of the Church. A congregation of Christian Scientists is a congregation of people who have been brought up out of great tribulation,—out of sorrow and sickness, some from the very gate of death,—and the health and happiness which they now enjoy must find outlet in their manner and in their appearance.
