Words fail me when I try to tell of all the blessings...
Words fail me when I try to tell of all the blessings that have come to me through Christian Science. It came to me in an hour of great darkness and need, for I was a physical and mental wreck, as from childhood I had been very delicate and suffered from severe attacks of illness. When I came to Christian Science I was suffering from lung, heart, and spinal trouble, and had been treated by twenty doctors, four of whom were specialists, who said I would be an invailed for the rest of life, as I had no constitution; and I then became very depressed. In 1903 I was visiting some friends in the south of England and they spoke to me about Christian Science, but it did not appeal to me, as I thought I was satisfied with my own religion. Still, I thought it might help others, so took the address of a practitioner. I wrote to her shortly after and asked for an appointment, and at my first interview I was healed of the heart trouble, weakness, and severe stomach toruble from which I had suffered for twenty years. I had four weeks' treatment and the other ailments left me by degrees. I soon found that I had to work out my own salvation, so I studied the Bible and Science and Health, and in about six months I saw the light and that the Scriptures contained this truth. I knew what had healed me, and I saw clearly that sickness is not sent by our heavenly Father, but is the result of wrong thoughts. I am now a free woman—free from all my old troubles, and it is two years since I took any medicine. The physical healing was a great blessing, but the spiritual uplifting is the greatest of all.
The wonderful new understanding of Truth has taught me to know more of God and the real man. I am deeply grateful to Mrs. Eddy for her noble and self-sacrificing life. My prayer is that I may be able to shed abroad the light that has come to me and which gave me freedom from bondage.
Miss Martha Milnes, Birkdale, Lancashire, England.
