It is just one year ago that I found this grand and blessed life-giving truth,—Christian Science. It has given me a year full of blessings and a peace and joy that tongue cannot express; it has turned this old world, that I once thought was only full of disappointments, sorrows, and hardships, into a heaven for me. I did not take up Science for the physical healing for myself, but for my son, eleven years of age, who had been a sufferer since he was a baby: also because it seemed to satisfy a hungering I had for spiritual food. The first Christian Science literature I ever read was given to me by a dear friend who had been healed in Science of a dreaded disease. She loaned me a copy of Science and Health, and before I opened the book I prayed God to give me wisdom and understanding in reading it. I had not read many hours in it when I knew it was sent from God. I devoured it as a starved child would take something to eat; it was what I had been hungering for. The second day I had the book I was reading the chapter "Prayer" to my son. I asked him if he did not think he could be healed through the understanding we got from that chapter. He said, "Yes, mamma, I believe I can," and he took off his truss and went to school. I must say that for six months or more before this he could not stand up without having it on; I was afraid to ask him how he was until about the third day, and when I did, he said he was well. I must say I was surprised! I knew then that Christian Science is from God and I accepted it as sent from God through our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy. I cannot begin to express half the peace and joy that filled my heart to overflowing. We have had many more beautiful demonstrations in our family of five children. We find quick and sure relief through Christian Science from every difficulty. My five children go with me to the Science church and love the truth taught there, and my husband is becoming interested. I am very thankful for the Sentinel and Journal, also the Lessons from the Quarterly, which is my spiritual food. My heart is full of thankfulness to God, and to our Leader whom He has given us, and I pray that I may try to pay the debt of love I owe by being obedient and humble at the feet of Truth.
Mrs. Ruba Davis, Watertown, S. D.
