When I came to Christian Science, about a year and a...
When I came to Christian Science, about a year and a half ago, I was so ill that no physician could help me. After a careful examination, the specialist whom I consulted said that my heart was badly affected, and all those who had previously examined me had declared that they had never met with a case like mine. I was greatly discouraged when I heard that there was no help for me, although the physician tried to comfort me. There was much pain, also difficulty in breathing, and I could not speak aloud. One day when I was feeling especially sad I heard of Christian Science. I clung to this ray of hope with all my strength and asked for treatment. After the first treatment I had a few hours' sleep, something which I had not enjoyed for weeks. I became more calm, the anxiety about breathing diminished, and I improved rapidly. To-day I am a well man; those evil times have vanished like a bad dream. I never think of my heart, but rather realize with joy that I can again take up my profession, which I had to give up on account of illness.
Although my physical healing has been wonderful, it seems small in comparison to my growth within. I am truly grateful for all the good that Christian Science has brought me. I shall always strive to be a real Scientist.
Christian Hezel, Dresden, Germany.
