Something over eleven years ago I was healed by Christian Science...
Something over eleven years ago I was healed by Christian Science of many troubles,—stomach and catarrhal difficulties, etc.,—all of which disappeared by reading "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," and other writings by Mrs. Eddy. I was also healed of another illness of quite a severe character, but in this case I received a few treatments from a dear practitioner and was soon helped. About three years ago I was also freed from the bondage of wearing glasses, after having used them for about eighteen years, so that I can truly say, in the words of the psalmist, that my youth has been "renewed like the eagle's."
I am able to read any kind of print by day or artificial light, although over seventy-one years of age; and not only in this one particular have youthful conditions been restored, but in all other phases of exitence does the same kind of experience prevail. For all of this I feel inexpressibly grateful to God for the wonderful light that has come to this age. which frees us from the illusion of sin, disease, and death, and makes us know that we are indeed the children of the one God and joint-heirs with our elder Brother, Jesus the Christ.
The spiritual understanding of God as Life, Truth, and Love is a thing that we can never fully estimate, and remembering that all this comes through the pure and selfless character of our beloved Leader and Guide, Mrs. Eddy, would not one be an ingrate indeed who did not feel and express gratitude for all this glorious light given us in Christian Science. I was a working member of an orthodox church (for which I am truly thankful) for forty-five years, but must frankly confess that the spiritual good received in that relation was far short of what has come through Christian Science. To God short all the praise!
