Nine years ago I was freed in one Christian Science...
Nine years ago I was freed in one Christian Science treatment of two troubles with which I had been afflicted from childhood. I was believed to have inherited sensitive feet, which caused me much trouble. When a child I had a supposedly infectious ailment, and for thirteen years I had a cough which was not only disagreeable to me, but disturbed others as well. I had medical treatment, but neither this nor home remedies could free me from the trouble. I was very sensitive to changes of climate and weather, and suffered greatly, therefore no one but myself can appreciate the peace and joy of freedom which this healing has brought me. My whole life has been transformed by Christian Science.
In I Corinthians, 12 : 31, we read: "But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet show I unto you a more excellent way." I was at the time of my healing preparing to become a kindergarten teacher, and the untiring activity with which I have been enabled to follow my profession I owe wholly to Christian Science. In my work as a teacher I was sometimes obliged to read or lecture to large assemblies, and Christian Science freed me from nervousness, fear, etc., so that I could satisfactorily perform my duties. Before my healing I had made several sea-voyages, and was always ill from start to finish; but since I have through Christian Science gained an understanding of the Bible passages, "In him [God] we live, and move, and have our being," I have been on the sea for weeks at a time, and have never suffered even when the water was so rough that the captain and myself were the only ones at table.
Since I have taken up the study of Christian Science many ailments have been overcome for me, and an ankle which was badly injured while playing tennis was completely healed in five days through constant reading in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." Sensitiveness, quick temper, hatred, and other discords in character become beautifully less through the teaching that "God is love." The Sentinel, Journal, and Der Herold are messengers that always render us necessary service at the right time, and I wish to express my gratitude to all the workers who so faithfully send the good news out to the Field. I wish to take this opportunity to express my appreciation of our dear Mrs. Eddy, who in Science and Health gives us a deep insight into her life-purpose. In her books we find a satisfactory answer for every question concerning man. I also wish to give thanks for the love which is being made manifest through Mrs. Eddy's life and works, so that now humanity may repeat the song of angels: "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men."—Miss Julia Runge, Houston, Tex.
